Carla L. Peterson

Carla L. Peterson is a Professor of English at the University of Maryland, College Park. Born in 1944, she is a scholar whose research focuses on nineteenth-century African-American women writers and speakers in the northern United States. Her academic work also explores African-American novelists of the post-Reconstruction era, as well as the intersection of gender and culture within historical literature.
