Lewis Hine

Lewis Wickes Hine was an American sociologist and photographer active during the Progressive Era and the Great Depression. His work as a muckraking photojournalist documented children working in harsh conditions. These photographs were instrumental in the movement that led to the passage of the first child labor laws in the United States.
