Lorna Simpson
Lorna Simpson is an American photographer and multimedia artist who rose to prominence in the 1980s and 1990s with photo-text installations exploring identity, race, and gender. In 1990, she became one of the first African-American women to exhibit at the Venice Biennale. Her practice continues to examine memory and history through a diverse range of media, including film, video, painting, drawing, audio, and sculpture.
