Tricia Rose

Tricia Rose is an American sociologist and professor of Africana Studies at Brown University, where she directs the Systemic Racism and Resilience Project. A pioneer in hip hop scholarship, her research focuses on the intersection of pop music and gender. In 2025, she launched Way Outta No Way, a research-driven web project exploring systemic racism and Black resilience, and she has previously co-hosted the podcast The Tight Rope.
