Black Dog & Leventhal is a New York City-based publisher founded by J.P. Leventhal in 1992 or 1993. The company specializes in general non-fiction, with a focus on comprehensive illustrated works. Following its 2014 acquisition by Hachette Book Group and Leventhal's 2017 retirement, the publisher now operates as an imprint of Running Press.
